Bubba and Scrappy

We now have two new members of our family. Our dog Bruster went to a new home over Thanksgiving. With me going back to work, he would need to be in the cage all day long and he hates being in the cage. A friend watched him for us while we were gone and her friend fell in love with him and offered to take him. He now is in a loving home were he will not be alone all day. The best part is they have another dachshund, so he will have a friend. We will miss him, but it will be the best for him. To heal the pain of the kids missing Bruster, we allowed them to get guinea pigs today. This was a good move for transition for them as they are very excited and distracted by their new pets.
Aubrey named hers Bubba. Last night we were discussing names and she was very intent on Cute Little Bubbles. We thought Bubbles was cute, but she later changed her mind to Bubba and that seemed to stick.
Ethan named his Scrappy.

Their great big cage.

We got a big think of hand sanitizer to keep our hands nice and germ free!

They even have their own little stockings (Bruster had one)

Some little treats to nibble on

Thanksgiving

We traveled to Ohio to see my family for Thanksgiving.
Uncle Will quizzing Aubrey on her letter flashcards. Who knew they would be such fun...Aubrey loved it!

Family photo on Thanksgiving.

Aubrey helping Aunt Kelly bring in all the presents from the bedroom. This is the time when our whole family gets together, so we exchange our Christmas presents at Thanksgiving.

Opening our stockings from Grandma and Grandpa.

This Halloween Ethan discovered Nerds. He was shocked by the big box of them!

Aunt Laura more excited about Aunt Kelly's gift than she was.

Aubrey got a new doll from Grandma and Grandpa.

Aubrey showing Grandpa something that she got.

Great Grandma and the rest of the family arrived.

We had a sweatshirt made for Great Grandma with all the great grand kids faces on it. It was a hit!

Ethan enjoying playing some basketball with the big boys.

Ping pong was also a fun activity. Aubrey was so funny trying to hit it. She mostly just ran after the ball.

Uncle Keith got the Keytar for Rock Band and Derek had fun on it.

Pam trying out her skills on the drums on Rock Band.

Garrett with his skills on the guitar.

Ethan's Pajamas

Ethan was needing some new pajamas and I found these cool pants for him while we were in NC. Ethan is a huge Orlando Magic fan and these have all the NBA teams. I just knew he would be so excited.
Well, upon closer inspection by both Ethan and myslef, guess which team was missing...yep the Magic. Ethan was so sad he would not even wear the pajamas. I orderd a patch on Ebay for $2 and it arrived yesterday. Problem solved and Ethan was very happy to wear his pajama pants last night.
We also hung our Christmas lights on Sunday since we will be in Ohio for Thanksgiving. Ethan really liked being on the roof with Derek. Aubrey got up, but was too scared and wanted to get down.

Bark George

I have been meaning to do this post for some time, but never got around to it. Aubrey came home from preschool one day retelling me the story she heard. She was so dramatic with it that I just had to get the book. I got her on video with her version of the story. I have kept the book in my teaching bag for when I sub and have read it to many of the classes. The kids just love this book. I actually found some activities to go along with it that I will be using with my Kindergarten class.

Red Velvet Pancakes

We have had a red velvet themed week at our house. It started with a cake for Derek's birthday. Then we found some red velvet chocolate milk at Target. We had a small group dinner last night and took Red Velvet Cheesecake from Sam's to that. A friend told me about red velvet pancakes and gave me the recipe, so Aubrey and I made them this morning.
Aubrey was helping with the chocolate chips. These were not in the recipe, but we decided to add them.

Topping them off with some sprinkles!

The final product! They were very yummy! Ethan said he wants them every morning...that will not happen. I do however think we have found a new breakfast for Christmas Eve morning.
