The kids and I headed back to MI again last week to visit before Ethan starts school. We had a great time. We made our flight this time and both kids did great on both flights. Ethan really enjoys playing with the "big boys" so that kept him entertained. Aubrey was well, Aubrey. She charmed everyone and kept us laughing. Some of the highlights from our trip:
* Friday was our best day weather wise and Ethan played in the water most of the day. He jumped off the dock and even played on the white board. The white board is a piece of foam that floats and you can jump off of it in the water. It does not sound very exciting, but it is a lot of fun. This is our second or third once since Grandma has been at the lake and it is a family tradition now. I was glad to see that Ethan enjoyed it as well.
* On Saturday my Mom's sister, my Aunt Nancy and Uncle Ken came to visit. We do not get to see them very often so it was a treat. I think for Aubrey the best part of the trip was a present they brought her. My aunt had been looking for the Pretty Pretty Princess game to give Aubrey since her granddaughter enjoyed it so much. Well she found it and boy was the jewelry every a hit. Aubrey loved it and loved having everyone else wear it. It is amazing that all the pieces came back home with us, but they did.
* Saturday evening we were all hanging out in the family room watching the Olympics and we got a little silly. I believe Aubrey started our silliness by talking into a cup with rocks in it and then making all of us do it. Whatever the reason we laughed for about and hour straight that night. Good times! Ethan was a human weight for the older boys and loved that. We then started the swinging game with Grandma and Aunt Laura. That was a hit. It added to our laughter because I could not get a decent picture. I seriously had about 20 shots of Aubrey's diaper.
* On Saturday also the boat would not work in the middle of the lake and come to find out that the prop fell off of it.. what are the odds of that happening.
* Ethan enjoyed fishing and caught several.
* Feeding the ducks is always a hit. Aubrey was so cute following after them calling "here Ducky, here Ducky" She also would give the ducks a piece and then give herself a piece.
*Monday we went to play putt putt. Aubrey got a little bored towards the end, but did well. Ethan's favorite part was the ever popular ball washer. I had wanted to stop by an ice cream shop that we used to go to when I was a kid, but we decided it was too close to dinner. We stopped by the store instead to pick up items for sundaes at home. Ethan and Uncle Keith opened up the Ice Cream World (Ethan named it) and made dirt sundaes for all of us. He had a blast doing it. Great Grandma even had special ice cream dishes.
* Many games were played and many laughs over CandyLand and Go Fish. My favorite part was when my Grandma and Aunt Judy were playing Go Fish with Evan and Adam by choice. Evan and Adam are going into 10th grade! Who knew Go Fish could be so fun!
* One morning Great Grandma made chocolate chip pancakes for breakfast. This is another tradition at her house. Ethan and Aubrey helped her with the old fashioned mixer. No cords here. They loved it! Evan and Adam also enjoyed it and had to have a turn with it as well.
* We had a lot of fun and brought home a bunch of pictures and memories and look forward to seeing everyone at Thanksgiving.
