Ethan's Class Party

Today I went in and helped with Ethan's class party. I always end up at the messy station. Today I was at the Christmas tree station. They frosted an ice cream cone and then decorated it before eating it. I did get some nice green highlights though. While picking up a Skittle from the floor, one of the little boys collided his hand of green icing with my hair. Oh, the joys! It was still fun though and I am glad I am able to enjoy these moments with Ethan.Putting a hand print on his ornament.

Coloring Contest

Last night we had a coffee house at church and the kids had cookies with Santa. Ethan participated in a coloring contest and won! This was his picture and he really did do a nice job. He won a dollar in change (probably what Barry had in his pocket) and he was so excited. We had Hanna Bruce in town with us for the coffee house and we were at dinner when Ethan realized that he did not have all of his prize money anymore. He was so sad that the tears just started flowing. Luckily Daddy came to the rescue with a dollar bill to stand in for the change and all was happy again.

Playing In The Rain

Ethan stayed home from school today with Pink Eye so he was with me when I picked up Aubrey from preschool. We got soaked getting into the car, so when we got home I let the kids put on their rain coats and play in the rain.

Teddy Bear

A sweet friend of our from our days at WCC is having a baby boy in a few weeks. I finally finished her blanket and teddy bear and got it in the mail. Christy worked at the church with Derek and they had such fun together. She was also Ethan's first girlfriend! We miss having her around and know that she will be a wonderful mother. Anyway, here is the blanket and bear that I made for her.

Now, I have only made one other bear before and this bear has a really fun story with it. I was so excited to make a bear for Christy that I found this really soft yarn that would make the bear extra cuddly. I was following my pattern and was more than half way through when I realized something was terribly wrong. The bear was HUGE! The yarn was so soft and stretchy that it made the bear really big. It was becoming bigger than the baby. So I started to get frustrated and Derek and Ethan kept making fun of the poor thing, so I threw it in the trash. Ethan felt bad for making fun of it so he recused it from the trash and named him Micheal. So I finished it for Ethan and he is now a proud owner of a homemade bear. Check out the size of him:So, I started again and used the same yarn as the blanket and a smaller hook to avoid another mishap. I finally got it done and it made it safely to Christy before her little guy arrives.

Ready For Church

Yesterday, as I was getting ready for church Aubrey told me she liked my boots. She came back in all proud of her boots.
No, I did not let her wear her pink rain boots to church. She had some cute little boots last year that she wore, I guess I will have to try to find her some for this year. Too funny, that silly girl!

Snowman

We do not get any snow here in Fl, so we have to take what we can get. On Thursday, when I volunteer in Ethan's class, my task was to make a snowman for the bulletin board. Here is a miniature version of it that I made for their classroom compliments. Each month I have been making some sort compliment thing that they can add to as they get compliments. Their goal is to get 10 in one week and then they get a special treat. This little guy has magnets on the back of all his parts so that he will stick on their dry erase board. I really enjoy helping in Ethan's class and being able to do some of the things I used to do when teaching to help his teacher out. It does not make me want to go back into the classroom though, I am perfectly content helping.

Bread and Super Balls

Yesterday I attempted to make Derek's mom's Cream Cheese Bread. I have attempted it at least three times and it has always failed. I have a dinner with my Bible study tonight and I thought I would try one more time. This time it worked! Ethan sampling it for me this morning.

We were at Micheal's yesterday and Ethan found this Super Ball maker. It was on sale and under $10, so I let him get it. It was really cool. Ethan and I made some super balls last night while Derek was at practice. Neat gift idea -I may go get some more while they are on sale.
