Two Dogs

Bruster has a friend Lucy staying with us. We are watching Greg and Denise's dog while they are out of town for a few days. They watched Bruster for us over Thanksgiving. They added Lucy to their family over Thanksgiving. Lucy is 4 and they have played hard.
This is a sweet picture of them after playing together. They have also had some disagreements. Lucy went into her crate one time to get away from Bruster and Bruster later hid under the couch to get away from Lucy.
These are the cookies I made today for a cookie exchange with MOPS. They are Reces Cup in cookie dough, Chocolate Covered Cherry cookie, and Chocolate caramel surprise. This is what my sweet daughter did while I was baking. She was actually very good and napped for awhile. This was towards the end. She was snacking on crackers and was sharing with the dogs. I put her in her booster seat and she said she was done. The crackers were on the counter and this was towards the end of my baking. She reached up to get them about 30 minutes later, dumped them on the floor and said Uh, Oh. In her defense she did try to clean them up and put them back in the box. That is my girl!

Trying to get a picture in their cute aprons before we started our Gingerbread House.Aubrey going for the candy!
Decorating a tree. I was very excited because this kit had the icing already made up and in a bag, usually you have to mix up the icing on your own. I thought how easy can this be. More to come...
Things going along smoothly.

Our problems start. This wonderful icing did not ever harden - just got sticky. We tried many attempts at the roof staying on and finally had to declare it a disaster. Ethan was upset for a second, but we assured him we would buy another one and try again. It was a good idea. I am glad that we did it early in the season!

Cleaning Out

We had a very productive day yesterday. We cleaned the house and then Ethan wanted to put the Christmas lights up outside. We also cleaned out all of the kids toys. We organized their baskets and got rid of a lot of toys. We are making room for Christmas. I must brag on Aubrey today. So far she has been wonderful. I pulled out a basket for her to play with this morning. She has played while I got dinner ready in the crock pot and now while I am working on the computer. Her favorite is the stacking cups. She has just been having a great time with them. She still wants to be right by me, but she is letting me get some things done! Yeah Aubrey! I am glad I did not get rid of the stacking cups (I almost did).

Here is what our house looking like last night. We ran out of lights for the other column so we will finish that today. When we came home last night, Aubrey got out of the car and just stared and said, Oh. It was cute. When Derek found out we were decorating for Christmas he was a little nervous. He is much better then I am. I told him not to worry, we just did lights and got all the Christmas boxes together in our bedroom. He approved of the lights.
Here is Ethan decorating his tree. He wanted to do it all by himself. I had to assist at the end because all the ornaments were on the front and it kept falling over. He did a great job though.
This is Aubrey's little tree in her room. One of the ornaments broke while I was putting it on. I guess you can not decorate for Christmas without an ornament breaking.
Aubrey's baskets all cleaned out and organized. Ethan has one is his room also. We will see how long they stay this way. I moved some puzzles into Aubrey's room and she already loves to dump them out.

This is Frosty and Aubrey is scared of him. He sings and dances. Aubrey wants me to push the button and then from a distance she will clap and sway like he is, but she gets terrified if she gets to close. She refused to push the "butt" as she calls a button. Not a very good shot, but here she is dancing with Frosty. You can see the perplexed look on her face. She wants to like it, but is not sure.
They both got a new musical toy. They love to push the button and have them sing. They were cheap at Walmart. Aubrey was more interested in Bruster for the picture and my battery died so I could not get a better one. Ethan likes to line all of his up and do a concert with them. He started this at Nana's house. The best is when he gets all of them going at the same time. Craziness! I will have to get a picture of that or maybe better yet video it so you can experience a night in the Overton home!

Thanksgiving

We had a great time over Thanksgiving. We flew to Ohio on Wednesday and stopped by to see Great Grandma in the nursing home and the kids got presents from her. Uncle Keith and Aunt Kelly were home so we had fun playing at Grandma and Grandpa's house that night. Aunt Kelly has a fear of clowns and got a Bozo punching bag a few years back as a joke. We found it in the basement and the kids loved it, especially Aubrey.
On Thursday we watched the parade on TV and went back to the nursing home to visit some more. Early in the afternoon Great Grandma, Pam, Mike, Garrett, Evan and Judy joined the fun. We played lots of games and ate lots of food. Aubrey really likes the stairs because we do not have any at home. Ethan liked playing with the boys. It started snowing in the evening.
Friday we woke up to snow that was enough to play in. Derek and I hit the mall and came back to join in with the snow fun. We had another day of food and games.
Saturday morning we left to fly back home. Aubrey was good on both fights, which was a blessing. Our funny story of the trip is that we lost Aubrey getting off the plane. Derek and I both thought the other one had her. Derek was waiting for the stroller and Ethan and I went to waiting area to get out of the way of everyone coming off the plane. Aubrey had been walking off the plane so nobody was holding her. At least 5 minutes later, Derek comes off with the stroller. I kept thinking Aubrey would straggle behind, but she did not. I asked where she was and Derek got a panicked look and stated he thought I had her. I took off running back onto the plane. The lady at the gate told Derek I could not do that because it was against security, but he said oh well. One of the passengers a few rows up from us had Aubrey. She noticed her walking around in the area from the gate to the plane. She did not see me around and looked on the plane, but we were not there. She was bringing her off the plane for us. We had a panic of about a minute and then got a good laugh out of almost leaving our daughter.
We stopped at Downtown Disney for a few minutes on our way home. We made it back just in time to change and be at church.
