Making A Cake For Daddy

Today Ethan and I made a Red Velvet cake for Dad. Nothing special - just because we love him and that is his favorite kind of cake. Ethan loves to help me bake.

Not a great picture, but Derek was in a hurry to get to practice and refused to pose for any more pictures.

Date with Ethan

Tonight Ethan and I went on a date to a fair one of the churches was having. I saw the Ferris Wheel lit up last night on our way home from church and thought it looked like fun. We were in luck, the fair lasted until today. We were back home within an hour. Unfortunately, it was very expensive and we went through the money we brought very quickly. Ethan had a good time though.

Ethan driving the semi.
Our picture in front of the ferris wheel. We did not get to ride it because it was $5 each and that would have been most of our money.
Sack races on the slide.

The ever popular Merry Go Round.

We did not have enough left to ride another ride so Ethan got a chocolate covered apple with sprinkles.
This way my favorite part. I had to take a picture or Derek would not have believed me. Selling Beer at a church festival. I have seen it all!!

Diaper Changer Ethan

This morning after showers Ethan helped out by putting Aubrey's diaper on her. I could not pass up this photo opportunity so I quickly ran in to capture the moment.

It was a valiant effort. I fixed to to prevent any leaks.

Friday we went to the other water park on our pass and learned that we liked Blizzard Beach better. They did have a neat slide that Derek and I took turns on and a really big wave pool. The waves were huge and we learned this the hard way. Ethan was a little timid so he stayed in the shallow part with Derek. Aubrey and I ventured out further. I thought we would just bounce in the waves a little. Well, the wave came and totally took us out. We were under water for what seemed 30 seconds and people were crashing into each other all over. I even scraped my knee. Luckily, I was able to hold onto Aubrey and she was fine. I lost my sunglasses in the adventure and Aubrey was very concerned about them the rest of the day.

Yesterday Aubrey and I took a trip to the Laundry mat to wash Ethan's comforter. Bruster is not allowed to sleep with him anymore because he keeps using the bathroom in his room and it has been smelling really awful. Anyway, I wish I had my camera because Aubrey was so cute. She put her books in the machine and pretended to clean them. She would also hide behind the window of the machine and say "Hi Mommy". Her favorite activity was being pushed in basket on wheels. It has been since college since I have used the laundry mat and I was in shock to learn that it cost $5 just to wash the thing. We had to get more money from the bank across the street to dry it. Luckily that was only $1. I was telling my sister Kelly that it used to be $.75 a load. She kindly reminded me that I am 30 and my college days were a while ago!

Fun Food Day

For lunch today the kids had this Mickey Mouse pizza that we found at the store. And then Daddy surprised us by taking up to Bruster's for Banana Split night. If you bring a banana you get half off so the whole family enjoyed ice cream for $2.41. Now that is a bargain! I also included a picture of Ethan playing at the beach today with our playgroup. Aubrey just enjoyed everyone else snacks instead of the beach much today. You would think I never feed her, but I promise I do.

Just an average day

I was cleaning out the kids closets today and removing the clothes that were too small. Aubrey came upon these items in Ethan's room and it was too cute to pass on a picture.

Ethan got his camera and took a picture of his sister as well. Joy was there too so it was a mini photo shoot.
We took a little shopping trip yesterday so that Ethan could spend his birthday money. He got another old Alvin and the Chipmunk DVD, a bubble wand, and new rocket (Bruster chewed the foam on his old one), a Dukes of Hazzard car that makes noises and a computer. He was one happy boy to pay for his treasures at the register. He is a good shopper - he had $4 left over.
Aubrey had her first cooking adventure this morning. She is so picky on food to eat in the morning. What she will eat one day she will not touch the next. Going on the fact that kids will eat it more if they help make it, I let her assist with making an egg this morning. Here she is stirring it. Of course she got some on her clothes and even more while she was eating it, but it worked - she ate the whole thing.

Ethan's 5th Birthday

At 8:50 this morning Ethan turned 5. Five years ago he was born on Easter Sunday. I still remember my water breaking at 11:00 on Saturday night and Derek calling Bill Poppen to tell him that he was going to have to lead the worship on Easter. Bill had to call back and get the song list because he was in shock that he was going to have to lead for Easter. I also remember that nothing was open on Easter Sunday so we had Burger King for lunch. Ethan was a big baby at 9lbs 9 ounces. He has been a joy in our life and always makes us laugh with the crazy things he says. He had a great day today. He woke up and was able to open a few presents and we went to Dunkin Donuts (his favorite) before church. While waiting for Daddy to get home he played on his Slip n Slide some more and got Aunt Joy involved. I found a cool spin art thing on clearance and he enjoyed playing with it. We headed to the beach when Derek got home and Darren met us there. Darren lives close to the beach so Ethan was able to ride with him in his Jeep. He was grinning from ear to ear. Great Grandma had sent Ethan some money in a car and told him to buy some ice cream for him and Aubrey. He was very excited when the ice cream truck happened to come by our house tonight during dinner. After dinner it was more presents and cake time. The word "awesome" was used multiple times while opening presents. Ethan went to bed a tired and happy boy.
